Our mission is to give ex-racehorses a second chance in life.
As one of the leading organisations in this field, our work is vital to thoroughbred welfare. We provide a lifeline for horses who need time to adjust to a life after racing.
By supporting The Racehorse Sanctuary & Rehoming Centre, you will be directly helping us provide a life after racing through our rehabilitation, retraining and sanctuary programmes.
We are fortunate to have a fantastic team spirit at the Centre. Our staff and volunteers are all totally committed to the care and wellbeing of our horses.
We are saddened to share the news that our dear Mr Vitality (Vi) was put to sleep on Thursday 20th March, at the grand age of 34.
Vi had an incredibly successful racing career in Hong Kong, winning £6 million in prize money, as well as holding The Sha Tin racetrack course record for the sprint. He had two films made about his racing career for The Hong Kong Jockey Club, was named Hong Kong Horse of the Year in the 1995-1996 season, and had many Group 1 wins including the Stewards Cup.
The Sanctuary is sad to announce the death of our Chairman, Edmund O’Reilly Hyland.
Edmund was born in Ireland, where he developed a deep love for horses from a young age. After moving to London for work, he found joy in racing, which led him to Susanna, the love of his life.
Edmund served as a Trustee for many years and more recently became Chairman, demonstrating incredible generosity and support
